The day I met my King was when I was 17 years old on my day at work just getting out of school. He came into my job and I instantly saw his long eyelashes as he was looking up at the menu. I said, “You must look like your mother with those long eye lashes". He replied, Naw". I kindly left it alone while waiting for him to place his order. After he placed his order he asked me to write my phone number on the receipt that I gave him with his change. I responded by saying, “How old are you?' He said "19". I said, “No you are not". He then said, Naw, "I’m 18'. I said" Okay and gave him my phone number"....

Two weeks later he gave me a phone call and instantly we connected with our long talks, jokes and laughter. As time progressed we continued to converse over the phone with our hours and hours of conversations that kept us laughing and linked to each other. We decided to take it further and see each other, this day happened to fall On Valentine's Day unintentionally. He knocked on my door while my father was sitting on the couch. I introduced him to my father and he kindly shook my father’s hand with a firm grip. After their brief introduction, he passed me a single rose and a Valentine’s Day card. I blushed and smiled as I was not expecting him to bring me anything. My mother nosily was peeking through the kitchen smiling at us and kindly said, “Hello”. He replied back, “Hi nice to meet you’.

From that moment I fell in love with him, my mother and father loved him as well. My mother used to say all the time, He is the one! I laughed and did not believe her as I was too young to see and understand. Twenty two years later, I can proudly say, Mother you were right all this time! In less than one year my King, my best friend, my soul mate is going to be my husband……

I was hungry one evening and decided to get something to eat at McDonald’s. I was unsure of what I wanted to eat and as I was choosing I heard a voice talking to me. When I saw and heard her voice I knew I had to leave with her number. When she finished taking and preparing my order I asked for her number on the back of the receipt that was given to me from her. She interrogated me at first then she decided to give me her number. I was excited and knew she was the one I wanted to get to know. As weeks passed I decided to give her a phone call. I called her and asked for her and she was given the phone to talk to me. Our first conversation was like we already knew each other, we clicked and we was just feeling each other from the start.

We met again on Valentine’s Day at her family’s home in South Philadelphia. I was greeted by her and her father. I gave her a single rose and card for Valentine’s Day. I met her mother a little while later. I felt connected with her and her family at their home. From that day forward we were linked and never lost love for each other.
