Anisha Shepherd & Brad Fouse
Our Story
HOW WE MET: Brad and I had met several times before we started dating. He was a good friend of my sister and would come to our house sometimes. I never thought at that moment that this would be the man I was going to marry since I was only a freshman in high school and he was a senior. However, one night I went and hung out with my sister and her friends and we instantly hit it off. I started getting butterflies everytime I saw him and we started seeing each other more often after that. I still wasn't quite sure if we were going to be together for the long term since Brad was going to be leaving the next summer to start college at Kansas State while I still had 3 years of high school left. But, as we went through the first year of our relationship I knew that he was the perfect man for me and that I would endure the long distance and we would make it work. We have been together ever since which has been 7 years.
THE PROPOSAL: It was June 9th, 2009 and Brad took me back to the place where we had our first date: The Drive-In theatre in Wichita. There were 2 movies that I really wanted to see and so I suggested to him that we go to the drive-in. Little did I know that this would be the happiest night of my life to date. We set up chairs in the back of his truck and watched the first movie of the night "UP". I loved it! It was really cute and about these two old people who loved adventure and the best adventure was growing old together. Apparently Brad was waiting for this perfect moment to propose because he had been carrying around the ring for 6 months. He suggested that we go inside the truck in between movies since it was getting a little chilly outside. I am glad that he decided to go ahead and propose because I almost ruined the moment by dumping an entire bag of gardettos on the floor of his truck! He kept telling me it was ok and then told me to close my eyes because he had a surprise for me. At this point I wasn't even expecting a proposal because we had been together for so long I thought it would never happen. But, he finally asked me if I would spend the rest of my life with him and I tearfully said yes! He opened the box but I couldn't see the ring because it was dark outside and there was no light. Finally he turned on the cab light and it was gorgeous and exactly what I wanted. The only bad thing was it was late and I couldn't tell my parents until the next morning!
OUR FUTURE: Now we are living in Lowell, Arkansas where Brad is working as an industrial engineer at JB Hunt. We both really love it down here but of course miss our families in Wichita. I am finishing up my undergraduate at the University of Arkansas where I will graduate this December with my Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry. I will then be applying to pharmacy school where I will hopefully become a pharmacist. After our wedding we will be honeymooning at the Sandals resort in Negril, Jamaica for 6 days and 6 nights.
Our Wedding
Our wedding is going to be held in Wichita, Kansas at Grace Presbyterian Church. It will be at 4:00 PM and the reception and dance will immediately follow. Our colors are Purple and Black for our favorite team the K-State Wildcats! Feel free to dress nice but comfortable as we will make this day a day of celebration.
Our Reception
The reception will be held at the Wichita Marriott hotel. This will occur immediately following the ceremony. We will be serving a plated meal with your choice of salmon or chicken and of course cake! After the meal we will dance the night away with Scott Ward from Accent Mobile Music. There will be a few kegs of beer provided and a cash bar with plenty of liquor and wine. We have also reserved a block of rooms that are $88/night which is one of the cheapest around town.
A Special Message From Us
We want to thank everyone for being a part of this special day. Every one of you has made an impact in our lives and shaped the two individuals that we have become. We especially want to thank our parents and family for always supporting us and being there when we needed you. We love you guys!
