Our Story

While we have known and worked at the same company for over five years, we didn't really talk to each other until January 2009. Over the next few months, we began talking and started working out together. We were both becoming interested in each other but were afraid to make the first move. We even went to hang out on a Friday night and Matt brought another girl along with him. Colleen even feigned interest in women's college basketball to come watch it at Matt's house as she did not have cable. Shortly thereafter, we started dating. Along the way, we traveled to Pittsburgh, Holland, MI, Asheville, NC, Puerto Rico, Chicago and New York and fell in love. Colleen began to spend more time with Matt and his family and things progressed. Madison, Mackenzie and Collin adore Colleen and look forward to her being part of the family.

There are some ways in which we are different - we cheer for different football teams. Matt is laid back, Colleen, not so much. Colleen is outgoing, Matt is not. But those differences compliment each other. We also have many things in common. We are both followers of Jesus and enjoy expressing our spirtial beliefs and attend Grace Community Church. We both enjoy most sports. We enjoy working out together, whether it is swimming, running, biking, lifting, or whatever else comes along. We also like movies and TV shows (Matt thinks that Colleen really just puts up with those for him).

When Colleen asked her friends what they thought of Matt, the response from almost all of them was that he is "normal". Matt wasn't sure whether to take that as a compliment or not, but it is one of the things that Colleen loves about him. Matt is honest, dependable, hardworking, a good father, loyal and "normal"..oh and cute. All of these things make Matt the kind of person with whom Colleen would like to spend the rest of her life.

Colleen has a real love of life. She is a very caring and giving person. Colleen is always eager to meet new people and is always concerned about the well being of others. Colleen is a fun, outgoing, creative, passionate, hardworking and loving person. All of these qualities make her the ideal person for Matt to spend his life.

I hope you have enjoyed hearing a little bit of our story and we look forward to sharing the rest of it with you as well.
