 | | Cortney and I met while working at Walgreens. I had been working in Gray for a couple months and he transferred in to replace the previous managers position. At first it was a very professional relationship. We grew to know each other in the Pharmacy environment. Months went by and we grew closer. I looked to him for guidance and support while going through school and other personal issues. We stayed close even when I decided to get a job at the hospital as a nurse intern. We continued to stay in touch and eventually Cortney asked me out! And the story began...
| | Knowing each other so well before we got together really has helped us understand each other more. We truly are each others best friends! Our first summer together was indescribable! From lazy pool days, hikes and adventures, grilling out, to trips to Asheville.. It was such a memorable time for the both of us. That summer we got to meet each others families for the first time:) | | This next year was busy! We were both busy with work and I was finishing up my last year at Milligan. We spent Thanksgiving in Florida and Cortney was able to meet all of my family! We had an amazing Christmas together spending time decorating, cooking, and celebrating together. The end of the year was even busier. School was finishing up for me and Cortney was busy with work. A few weeks before graduation Cort surprised me with a golden retriever puppy!! It was the absolute perfect graduation gift. I finally got licensed and things started settling down.
That summer we also found a church body at RedStone Church here in Johnson City. We had been looking for a church to get plugged into. We are so blessed by this church family! We have grown so much spiritually on our own, with one another, and with our brothers and sisters in Christ. | | This past year has been so amazing! Adapting to a new job, Oliver (our puppy), and growing together. We had another amazing summer together! In October we went to visit Florida during our birthday week! Oliver's first time on the beach was priceless!
December 2, 2015 we had decided that morning that we would work out and then decorate the Christmas tree. Cortney dropped soooo many hints.. Trying to get me to dress up, told me to get my nails done, etc. I was clueless. Later on that day he asked me (completely out of the blue) if I would want to go get my ring finger sized. Completely shocked I said, "okay sure, we can." I turn around and he is down on one knee!! Of course I said yes. And here we are now! | | Since getting engaged we have put so much thought into our wedding. Our hopes, wishes, expectations for what is to come. It has always been my dream to get married on the beach. When I mentioned that to Cortney we were almost on the exact same page. We wanted something simple, romantic, spontaneous, and exciting. This is how we came to the conclusion of getting married in Saint Lucia! We are so excited to have a fun and relaxing, stress-free wedding and honeymoon. At the same time we will be so excited to come back and share this with family and friends that we love the most!
We are so looking forward to our reception! And really want it to be a celebration of our love for all who can attend. We will be showing a video of the wedding and pictures and memories made. We love you all and I hope this tells you a little more of the story that is soon to be the "Yates." :) |
