It was the Summer of 2014 in Charleston, SC when Dixie was in PA school and Stuart was in Navy submarine training.  They were both enjoying a night out on the town with friends when their paths crossed.  The spark was evident immediately, so they began to make the most of their time together for the rest of the Summer.

Stuart received orders a month later and learned that he would be headed to the west coast for a 4 year run on the high seas.  Dixie was due to begin her clinical rotations all over the state of South Carolina soon thereafter

Not knowing what the future held for them and their relationship, it was decided that they would "pause" their relationship for their paths were going in two totally different directions.  Neither one had any idea how it would work out, but they hoped that one day their paths would cross again. 

For the the next few years they kept in touch.  It was a series of sporadic "Happy Birthday!" and "Merry Christmas" and "How ya holding up?"  Stuart kept the handwritten goodbye letter that Dixie gave to him before his departure and carried it across four oceans, three deployments, and twice to The North Pole.

In early 2019, two short months after separating from the Navy and returning back to Georgia, Stuart gave Dixie a call out of the blue.  And FINALLY, after over four years of being apart, they were able to be together again.  It was like they had never separated and they jumped right back into where they left off.  And as they say..."THE REST IS HISTORY!"
