Ken proposed to Carolyn when they were in the Dominican Republic for a wedding. Marcos and Penelope's wedding was held in the town of Contsanza high in the mountains of D.R. The next day the wedding party and family went to Agua Blancas, the tallest waterfall in DR at 83 meters high. A brave few swam in the freezing waters of the pool created by the waterfall. Although he was waiting till they were at the ocean, Ken realized that this was the place to do it. He asked Iliana, Carolyn’s older sister to get everyone away from the water and back to the picnic area. Ken grabbed his bag saying he wanted to get a picture with Carolyn. He first had her look up at the waterfall as if he was taking a picture of her looking away from him while he was kneeling behind her. He then reached in to his bag and pulled out the ring telling her to look at the camera instead. Carolyn was so surprised, if it wasn't for the railing she would have fallen in the water.
