FAQs

Our wedding FAQs include key details on travel, accommodations, dress code, and event timing. It also covers how to share photos, dietary requests, and resort information for a smooth experience.

Travel

Do I need a passport to travel to Jamaica?

Yes, a valid passport is required for all travelers entering Jamaica. Make sure to check the expiration date and renew it if necessary before your travel dates.

Do I have to go through customs in Jamaica?

Yes, all visitors to Jamaica must go through customs and immigration upon arrival. To make this process quicker and easier, we recommend booking the Club Mobay service. It provides expedited assistance through customs and immigration, helping you bypass long lines so you can get to the resort and start enjoying your trip sooner.

Is airport transportation provided by the resort?

Yes, Sandals resorts offer complimentary airport transfers to and from the resort. Once you arrive at the airport, look for the Sandals lounge, where staff will assist you with transportation.

Accomodations

Where should I stay?

To attend our wedding, guests must stay at one of the Sandals or Beaches resorts. We recommend staying at Dunn’s River, as it is the wedding venue and one of the newest Sandals resorts.

Alternatively, guests can choose to stay at Sandals Ochi, Sandals Royal Plantation, or Beaches Ocho Rios. Ochi offers more cost-friendly rooms, while Royal Plantation provides all-butler service. Both Ochi and Royal Plantation are just 15 minutes away from Dunn’s River. Beaches Ocho Rios is a more family-friendly option.

Can I get a room for one person at Sandals?

Unfortunately, no. Sandals is a couples-only resort. While guests can stay in a room alone, the rooms are priced for double occupancy, so a single traveler would be paying the rate for two people. With that in mind, all guests are welcome to bring a +1.

What if I do not want to bring a +1?

For single travelers, Beaches Ocho Rios is about 30 minutes from Dunn’s River and offers rooms accommodating one or more guests.

If I stay at another Sandals resort, can I visit Dunn's River for the wedding without a Day Pass?

No, guests staying off-property will need to obtain a Day Pass to attend the wedding at Dunn's River. This pass grants access to all the resort's amenities for the day. Please note that only guests staying at Dunn's River have full access throughout their entire stay.

However, guests staying at Dunn's River can visit and enjoy all the amenities at Ochi without needing a Day Pass. Sandals will provide round-trip transportation to and from the resort.

If I choose to stay at Ochi, Royal Plantation or Beaches resorts, how will I get to the wedding?

The resort staff can assist in finding local transportation options for you. Due to the number of attendees and the multiple accommodation options, we will not be providing transportation to and from the wedding. Guests staying at Ochi, Royal Plantation, or Beaches will need to arrange their own transportation.

When should I book my accomodations?

We recommend booking as soon as possible, as room availability may become limited as the date approaches, which could affect your room choice.

Do I have to pay for the room in full prior to arrival?

To confirm your room, a deposit of approximately 20% is required, with the remaining balance due 60 days before your check-in date. You may cancel up to 60 days before the check-in date.

After I book, how do I confirm my attendance for the wedding?

To confirm your attendance at the wedding, please email our wedding concierge, Lindy, at lfortune@uvltd.com with your booking confirmation number and our wedding code (RG24171620). Alternatively, you can text your confirmation number to the Bride or Groom, and we will coordinate with the wedding concierge to ensure you are added.

Please note: If your room is not linked to our wedding, you will unfortunately not be able to attend, even if you RSVP on our wedding website.

What does the Sandals and Beaches resort include?

Both Sandals and Beaches resorts are all-inclusive, which means that food, drinks, and select excursions are included in your stay. You simply arrive, make reservations for certain restaurants and excursions, and enjoy. Tips and gratuities are included, though please note that spa services require an additional payment.

How do I pay for additional services like spa treatments or excursions?

Additional services such as spa treatments, premium excursions, and certain wine selections are not included in the all-inclusive package. These can be booked and paid for using a credit card or room charge during your stay.

When is the last possible date to book my room?

March 15, 2025, is the final day to book your room. If you do not confirm a room by this date, we will be unable to accommodate you at our wedding, as the final guest count based on the booking code is due on March 16, 2025.

Wedding Logistics

What time does the wedding start?

The wedding will start at 4 p.m. on the beach at Sandals Dunn River and will take approximately 20 minutes. We recommend guests to arrive at 3:45pm to be seated. Pictures with the Bride and Groom, family, and the Maid of Honor/Best Man will follow immediately. Guests are free to walk on the beach, head back to their rooms, or take pictures during this time. Cocktail hour will start promptly at 5 p.m.

What time will the reception end?

The reception will end at 8 p.m. We invite all of our guests to join us at The Rum Club at Sandals Dunn’s River for more dancing, food, and entertainment.

Will there be any group activities or events before or after the wedding?

Yes, we are planning some group activities and events, including a welcome cocktail party and a group excursion the day before the wedding. Details will be shared closer to the wedding date.

Where do I RSVP?

We ask that all of our guests RSVP on our wedding website by Feb 17, 2025 to select their dinner menu items. The cocktail hour will include hors d'oeuvres.

Are children allowed?

While Sandals Dunn’s River is an adults-only resort, families with children are welcome to stay at the nearby Beaches Ocho Rios resort. However, the wedding and reception will be an adults-only event.

What are the wedding colors?

Our wedding colors are blue, which is Mercedes' favorite color and one that Cody has grown to love, and rose gold, which is also represented in our wedding bands. Feel free to dress in blue and rose gold if you'd like to match the theme!

What is the dress code for the wedding?

We kindly request that our guests dress in beach formal attire. This means no shorts or flip-flops, please. While it is not a black-tie event, and jackets and ties are not required, we do ask that you avoid Hawaiian shirts or overly casual clothing. Semi-formal attire is preferred, keeping in mind that it will be May and at the beach, so lightweight, elegant clothing is ideal.

What kind of footwear is appropriate for the wedding?

Since our wedding will be on the beach, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes. Wedges, sandals, or dressy flats are great options. We suggest avoiding high heels due to the sand.

Will the ceremony and reception be outdoors?

Yes, both the ceremony and reception will be held outdoors on the beach. While there will be shaded areas, we recommend bringing sunscreen and sunglasses for your comfort.

Can I bring my camera to take pictures during the wedding?

We have hired a professional photographer to capture the ceremony, but we would love to have as many pictures and videos as possible from our guests. Feel free to take photos during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and we kindly ask that you share them with us afterward!

Will the wedding take place rain or shine?

Yes, the wedding will go ahead rain or shine! Sandals has beautiful indoor and covered venues that we can use if the weather doesn’t cooperate, but our vision is the beach so let's pray for shine!

Will there be vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free meal options available?

Yes, Sandals Dunn's River offers a variety of dining options, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meals. When you RSVP, please inform us of any dietary restrictions so that we can make arrangements with the resort.

Gifts

Where can I give a gift?

We have a registry on our website, but we do not expect gifts from our guests, given the travel and accommodation expenses. We would love for everyone to simply come and celebrate our union on the beach. However, if you would still like to give a gift, we appreciate your thoughtfulness. We are registered with Amazon and ask that guests do not bring gifts to the resort to save room in their luggage.

Misc.

Is there a specific hashtag we should use when sharing photos?

Yes! Please use #BroughtonByLove when sharing photos on social media. We’d love to see all the moments you capture!
